Cynthia Chestek and collaborator Paul Cederna received funding from the inaugural round of the Frankel Innovation Initiative for their project on Peripheral Nerve Interfaces for Prosthetic Hand Control.

For his work in self-assembly processes at the nanoscale, Nick Kotov received the 2020 Alpha Chi Sigma Award.

Publications from BI Research Groups in September

Researchers from the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland were awarded a $5 million grant to establish a new Center for Research on Complex Generics. BI Faculty Professor Anna Schwendeman will be the center co-director along with Professor James Polli from the University of Maryland.

The center is funded by the FDA Office of Generic Drugs and aims at bringing complex generic drugs and drug products to market faster.

BI faculty members were part of three new startup companies launched in FY20.
